About the Session
When we were children, including our cherished time at Vidyapith, we were all excited by the prospect of the paint brush. But as we grew up and gravitated towards STEM disciplines or more promising corporate careers, artistic expressions and experiences have struggled to find a place in our lives. In this session, we explore ways in which we can make art a bigger part of our lives again whether as a Sunday painter who pursues it as a relaxing hobby, as a passionate art collector or as an enthusiastic museum visitor. The session will be an introduction to how art has evolved over time and share thought starters on how we can navigate the art world in a way that compliments our lives. Some of the key themes that we will aim to touch upon will include:
An introduction to Art History - Western and Indian Art
Visiting art exhibitions at Museums, Galleries and Fairs
Buying your first pieces of art – The Basics of Art Collecting
The Art World online – Virtual Exhibitions, Online Art E-Commerce Platforms, social media
Art and Technology – The Rise of Digital Art, Technologies and Experiences
Ideas for amateur weekend artists and hobbyists.
Possibilities for art as therapy
